Embedded with Troops in Afghanistan, Becky Sell

Hi SPJers!

We hope you liked the Symposium last week and join us this Tuesday, April 12th, 5:00 pm in Scripps 111 to welcome Becky Sell, photojournalist as well as assistant professor for OU’s School of Visual Communications!

Sell will be discussing her time embedded with troops in Afghanistan, as well as issues surrounding coverage of war and females in war. Sell can lend her own experience working on the Female Engagement Teams project—female marines working for counterinsurgency war efforts in Afghanistan as well as share her extensive photojournalism experience.

Becky Sell is a photojournalist and was the  Multimedia Editor for The Free Lance-Star in Fredericksburg, Virginia. She received her graduate degree in New Media from Syracuse University and preciously graduated from Ohio University with BS in Photojournalism. Becky worked as a Staff Photographer for three years at the Free Lance-Star before heading back to school and previously interned at the Courier & Press in Evansville, Indiana and The Herald in Jasper, Indiana.
